By developing individual strengths, guarding against known weaknesses, and appreciating the strengths of the other types, life will be more amusing, more interesting, and more of a daily adventure than it could possibly be if everyone were alike.

What is the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory?

Are you an introvert or an extravert? A feeler or a thinker? The Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) is a widely used tool which provides a framework to better understand similarities and differences among people. Jacquelyn is certified to use this tool in her work with clients.

The MBTI was developed after 45 years of research by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers, a mother-daughter team, and it incorporates the well known work of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist.

What is the Murphy-Meisgier?

The Murphy-Meisgier Type Indicator for Children (grades 2 through 6) was first conceptualized in 1980 by Elizabeth Murphy, Ed.D. and Charles Meisgier, Ed.D. It is based on the same concepts and preferences as the Myers-Briggs. The final instrument was completed in 1987. It:

  • contributes to the parenting, teaching and overall understanding of children and their development
  • facilitates improved relationships between children and teachers, children and parents, and children and their relationships
  • helps children understand and value their unique qualities while also learning to appreciate those who are different
  • improves self-esteem, achievement and social interaction by identifying individual strengths, and selecting areas for growth
