Nature as Teacher & Healer Day
September 30, 2021
with Jacquelyn Strickland, LPC,  International Consultant on High Sensitivity,
and co-founder of the HSP Gathering RetreatsSince 2001
founded with Dr. Elaine Aron in 2001.

Space is limited to 15 participants for the retreat; 8 for the Nature as Teacher & Healer
Lodging in the retreat house limited to 6 if double occupancy in the three bedrooms

This 3-day retreat will explore the Facts, Myths, Mysteries  & Metaphors about the HSP trait; provide an update on the scientific research, and explore the challenges, joys, and implications on the journey to becoming an empowered highly sensitive person.  You will get to experience what it is like to BE an HSP within a small group of others like you, and you will leave feeling more empowered and inspired to continue or create your own authentic way of life as a highly sensitive person.

“I love observing unencumbered HSPs sharing in deep conversations, coming alive with insight, creativity and confidence. I have felt honored for the last 20 years to witness the transformation of HSPs who often feel “less than” begin a process of embracing their personal power and proudly standing to their full height as a highly sensitive person.     ~Jacquelyn Strickland

As with the HSP Gathering Retreats, the Colorado HSP Retreats are not intended to be therapy, although for many HSPs they are can be very therapeutic.  If you are in crisis, or in great need, these retreats are probably not the best place for you at this time.
We ask that you please be aware if you find yourself becoming emotionally triggered into past therapeutic issues.  As much as we might like to be available during such a time, it is just not possible to be a container for healing while we also take care of ourselves and enjoy the purpose of these retreats.

  1. hi Jacquelyn,
I would like to get a sense of the schedule for each day (June Retreat). I have commitments those three days — which I will need to do virtually — and I’m wondering if it will be possible to work those into the Retreat schedule. Any info you can provide would be most helpful.

  2. Debi Warner says:

I wasn’t sure from the description if the retreat was very small and only for people staying overnight at the house or if that was just an option for people coming from out of town. I live in Thornton so I could just drive up each day if I came.

    • Jacquelyn says:

      Hi Debi,
Thanks for your question… The 3rd & 4th Colorado HSP Retreats are both limited to 15 participants, which
will allow for plenty of time for personal connection, questions, answers, and to integrate any new HSP knowledge into your dailyu life. The maximum number for the retreat house is 6, if double occupancy in each of the 3 bedrooms.

  3. Mary D. Locatelli says:

Hello! I am very interested in your retreat. Are scholarships a possibility?

    In loving kindness,

  4. Peggy Peuster says:

I would be very interested in attending!

  5. Briell Stratton says:

    Hi Jacquelyn,

I was wondering if there’s an option to just attend the retreat without staying overnight? I live in Fort Collins, so it would be more cost effective for me to just stay at my own home during the evenings. Is this option available? If so, how much would it cost?

    Thanks in advance,

    • Jacquelyn says:

      Hi Briell,
Wonderful that you are in Ft. Collins! Would love to have you join us. The cost for the retreat is $395 which
includes two lunches, snacks, coffee, teas…. Hope you can join us…

  6. Roxann Shook says:

I would also like to know a little about the daily schedule. Thank you!

  7. Jen Carter says:

My 12 year old son and I are both HSPs. Could we both attend?

    • Jacquelyn says:

      Hi Jen,
Thanks for reaching out Jen… The level of discussion and group sharing is for adults only.
There are many YouTube videos available you and your son could watch and discuss together.
Specifically, my colleague, Alane Freund’s 45-minute talk: Understanding the Highly Sensitive Person:
Elaine Aron also has many research-oriented videos available on line as well.

      • Jen Carter says:

Thanks for you recommendations. We’ve watched Dr. Freund’s talk and many videos and books by Drs. Aron and Dr. Zeff. I’ve joined 10 Facebook groups in sensitivity and have subscribe to blogs. I’m still at a loss for finding in-person group opportunities for highly sensitive children.

        • Jacquelyn says:

I am not aware of any in-person group opportunities for highly sensitive children. One of
my colleagues, Susanne de Munck Mortier, comes to mind. She lives in Italy .. There is so, so much
work and detail involved when planning an in-person retreat, but I think one for children (of a certain age)
would be wonderful. I’ll reach out to a couple of my colleagues with the idea – although I’m sure they have probably already thought of the idea, yet perhaps have not had the time, energy, nor resources to manifest such an opportunity.

  8. Nicole Ilderton says:

Hello! I also would like to know more about the schedule. I’d specially be looking into the September gathering since I’m not available in June. Thanks!

    • Jacquelyn says:

I will contact you via your email address within the next week.
It is likely the Colorado HSP Retreat in September will sell out. There will be
an updated registration form on my website soon.
      Thanks for reaching out.

  9. Gregory Kruszka says:

Is this mostly for women? I am a 69 year old male and wonder if I would fit in. If you don’t stay in the house are there hotels available nearby?

    • Jacquelyn says:

      Hi Gregory,
No, neither the Colorado HSP Retreats, nor the HSP Gathering Retreats are for women only,
so you would be most welcome. However, the 4th Colordo HSP Retreat (June 14-17) has been postponed.
The September retreat is still a go and most likely will sell out based on the number of HSPs who
have indicated interest. I will be posting an updated registration form for Sept soon.
There is a Hilton Hotel not too far from the retreat house, and there are also a lot of Air BnB
      rentals available as well.
      Thanks for reaching out.

  10. Barbara Cannon says:

Are there going to be (Please/please) any more HSP Retreats in the UK ??

    • Jacquelyn says:

Hi Barbara …. Thanks for reaching out ….

I would love to say an automatic ‘yes’ but the honest answer to your question is “I don’t know.”
There are so, so many things to consider when planning an HSP Gathering Retreat, and location, especially
outside of the U.S. is a major one. Your name sounds familiar. Did you by chance attend the first
European HSP Gathering Retreat in the U.K. in April 2006 in Someret? 🙂
