Bathe me today
In your
Amniotic kindness
Dear God,
For my heart needs your
Nurturing, feeding
Cushioning
Protection
Against
The sharp, slicing
Incisiveness
Of
Jabbing threats
And
Fearful
Sudden shock.
And, another favorite:
Resistance
Stamping my foot
Inside
And shouting
“No!”
This is not the box
To squeeze me
Into.
Rather
Let me roam freely
Undirected
Released in my heart
To be
Who I am.
